Assassin's Creed Destiny is the working title of a full console and PC Assassin's Creed set in Qin-dynasty China. It was reportedly developed by TiMi Studio Group, a Tencent subsidiary, together with Ubisoft. It was never announced. What the public knows comes from footage in developers' portfolios that MP1st reported on October 15, 2026, and VGC picked up a day later. ComicBook says China ranked alongside Japan among the settings fans requested most. The largest China footage so far comes from a game that had already been canceled.
TiMi made a console Assassin's Creed and scrapped it early
TiMi's press page dates its founding to 2008 in Shenzhen and lists Honor of Kings and Call of Duty: Mobile among its games. The group generated $10 billion in revenue in 2020. Destiny would have been different: a mainline console and PC entry led by TiMi.
Most of the material comes from a prototype dated February 2025. It shows a test environment with ink-brush ability icons and a yin-yang emblem on an ornate health bar, as MP1st describes it.
What the Destiny footage shows
The setting is the Qin dynasty in 206 BCE. A female assassin tries to reach a mysterious artifact inside a sacred palace that Xiang Yu and his troops are besieging. Xiang Yu was a real warlord of the period, and the clips include early work on a boss fight against him. The assassin carries a spinning, umbrella-like weapon. It was still a placeholder. Close-ups of it sit next to shots of Xiang Yu's halberd.
The core series moves are in place, with stealth kills and the Leap of Faith. MP1st also notes parkour animations of a male character taking down enemies and suggests a choice of protagonist, unless the man is a placeholder.
Why Destiny was canceled
Nobody involved has said. MP1st offers a chain of circumstances: TiMi restructured, splitting the studio into four teams, about a month before the prototype. A 2024 Reuters report had already described Tencent moving away from Western franchises, which earn lower margins than domestic releases. Destiny was canceled not long after.
Other TiMi projects ended in the same years. Athena, a third-person Greek mythology action game, was in development from 2024 to 2026. Invictus, a cyberpunk open-world game directed by Assassin's Creed veteran Ashraf Ismail at TiMi's Montreal branch, ended when the branch closed in February 2026. That branch opened in 2021 to make AAA open-world games and closed without releasing one. Hundreds of Jade developers were reportedly moved to a party game called DreamStar.
Ubisoft's Jean Guesdon said the company "recently chose to pivot away from an early project." Neither VGC nor Ubisoft ties that line to Destiny.
The China games that did ship
Chronicles: China is the Assassin's Creed set in China that you can play today. Climax Studios made it with Ubisoft Montreal, and Ubisoft published it on April 21, 2015 for Windows, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. It is a 2.5D side-scroller set in the 16th-century Ming dynasty. The player is Shao Jun, who hunts the Templar group called the Eight Tigers. Its Metacritic scores run from 67 to 69. Steam lists it at €9.99 in the European store (checked October 23, 2026). The PC version needs 64-bit Windows 10.
Jade is the open-world one. Ubisoft showed it at Ubisoft Forward in September 2022 as Codename Jade, a mobile game set in China. It is a collaboration with Level Infinite, Tencent's publishing arm. MP1st places it in 215 BCE, about nine years before Destiny's palace siege, and says it went quiet after its beta tests until Ubisoft confirmed in March 2026 that it was still in development. Guesdon has since said Jade will have co-op. Its official page still lists the release as to be determined.
Assassin's Creed Shadows is set in Sengoku-period Japan. It launched on March 19, 2025 for PC at €69.99 on Steam (checked October 23, 2026). ComicBook argues that Ubisoft has rarely revisited the same setting in mainline entries. In eleven years China got one side-scroller. The bigger China games are a phone game with no date and a prototype in somebody's portfolio.
Questions people ask
Is Assassin's Creed Jade confirmed?
Yes, as a project. Ubisoft revealed it in 2022 and says it is still in development. It has no release date, and the official page shows the release as to be determined.
Has AC Shadows flopped?
Not by Ubisoft's numbers. It passed 5 million players by July 2025, and Ubisoft said it performed "in line with expectations." Players are not the same as copies sold.
Is Assassin's Creed Destiny a real game?
It was a real project, going by the footage in developers' portfolios, but it was reportedly canceled and was never announced. Destiny is a working title, and Ubisoft has not confirmed any of it.
Is it related to the Destiny 2 Assassin's Creed crossover?
No. That was Destiny 2 and Assassin's Creed Valhalla trading cosmetics on December 6, 2022. Destiny 2 got armor ornaments based on Eivor, Kassandra and Altaïr, one set per class, and Valhalla got Destiny-themed gear.
Can you play an Assassin's Creed set in China?
Chronicles: China, the 2015 side-scroller, on PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. Jade is not out and Destiny was reportedly canceled.
